Root canal treatments (endodontics) are specialized treatments that focus on various conditions of the dental pulp, root and other surrounding tissues of the teeth. We may recommend a root canal treatment from our endodontist if a patient is experiencing infection and inflammation in the pulp tissue of the teeth. Left untreated, the infection can spread and cause further oral damage as well as overall health problems.
Some patients experience little symptoms when experiencing an infection that requires a root canal, others it is painfully obvious. Some of the signs to look out for are:
If you experience any of the above-listed symptoms, please contact Complete Dental to discuss our root canal treatments!
First, contact Complete Dental and request a root canal appointment with our endodontist. During your first appointment, we will examine your teeth, gums and overall oral health. Digital images will be taken to see the root canal and check for infection in the surrounding areas. Once the infection and damage have been observed, we will apply a local anesthesia to numb the tooth and surrounding area. Before the treatment begins, we’ll place a rubber dam to keep the area dry and clean. Next, the infection and decay will be removed.
Depending on your exact situation, the tooth may be sealed once it is cleaned or a temporary filling will be placed, and it will be sealed at a later appointment.
